DESTINATION CREATION

Give a place a reason to be chosen.

Discuss your destination

A destination becomes meaningful through what people can do there, how it makes them feel and why they return. WAA Brand Lab connects the proposition, the programme and the experience to give a place a coherent direction. From our base in Sahl Hasheesh, we develop destination strategy and concepts informed by the Red Sea’s landscapes, communities and ways of visiting.

WHAT WE CAN SHAPE

The place and the promise develop together.

We begin with the setting, the intended visitors and the opportunity. A marina, a coastal retreat, a retail promenade and an adventure destination need different reasons to visit. Our role is to define that reason, then show how identity, activities, hospitality and the guest journey can support it.

01

Destination positioning

Audience priorities, visit purposes, a distinctive proposition and a story grounded in what the destination can offer.

02

Product & experience programme

The relationship between accommodation, dining, activities, retail and shared spaces, with each part given a clear role.

03

Guest journey & spatial concepts

Arrival, orientation, movement and the rhythm of a visit, explored through zoning ideas, storyboards and concept visualisations.

04

Identity & market story

Naming direction, messaging, visual character and communication principles that give the proposed experience a recognisable presence.

A concept people can discuss and develop.

The concept brings strategic choices into view: who the place serves, what belongs together and where the experience needs a stronger connection. It gives owners, operators and design teams a common reference for the next stage. For an existing place, the work can focus on a specific challenge such as arrival, a fragmented offer or an underused space.

THE APPROACH

From opportunity to a coherent place.

01

Read the setting

Review the supplied site information, existing conditions, audience and business ambitions to understand the opportunity and constraints.

02

Set the proposition

Define the destination’s purpose, anchor audience and distinctive experience. Use these choices to guide the programme.

03

Build the journey

Connect the proposed uses and guest moments through spatial concepts, visual storytelling and a considered pace across the day.

04

Align the next stage

Organise the concept and brand direction into a clear package for discussion with the project’s delivery and operating teams.

A FEW USEFUL QUESTIONS

Before we begin.

Can you work with an existing site or building?

Yes. We can develop the destination proposition around supplied site information and existing conditions. Elphistone Promenade, for example, explores a retail experience and arrival sequence within an existing building shell.

Is destination creation the same as architectural design?

Our work establishes the strategic proposition, experience programme, brand direction and spatial concept. It gives the project a shared starting point; detailed architectural, engineering and statutory work must be defined separately with the relevant specialists.

Are the destination images completed projects?

The selected destination studies are clearly labelled as concepts. Their visualisations show proposed experiences and design intent. Where we show an existing site or a delivered element, the case study identifies it separately.
